3rd edition
From 14 to 21 July  2018

For the third consecutive year, during the festival, Curtas Vila do Conde offers an unique opportunity for intensive and specialized training to a group of twelve aspiring film critics. This Film Criticism Workshop responds to the growing need to form new values of film criticism, allowing a dialogue between generations and a platform to develop a critical discussion about the films that will be screened at Curtas Vila do Conde.

The workshop will be composed of two phases: the first one aimed at learning the different modes of criticism and models in the history of cinema and criticism (through masterclasses, debates and conversations with filmmakers); and the second, in tutorial mode, for the accompaniment of the films exhibited at the festival, and other parallel activities, and the production of critical texts. The material produced by the participants will be published in the press partners (Público, À Pala de Walsh and A Cuarta Parede) and the festival's own blog.

The workshop will be guided by festival tutors and by national and international press guests. It has a duration of 7 days, including 22 hours of master classes and 24 hours of tutorials.
