Two short films, presented in the latest edition of CurtasVila do Conde, are in the list of nominees to the prestigious Academy Awards. "The Dam Keeper" by Robert Kondo and Dice Tsutsumi, winner of an Honorable Mention at Curtinhas competition, is nominated for Best Short Film Animation and "La Lampe au Beurre de Yak (Butter Lamp)" by Wei Hu, screened in Vila do Conde in the "Short Matters" program, is in the running for Best Short Film!
After it's successful debut in 2013, the Short Film Day is back to Portugal on December with several screenings around the country.
“É o Amor", by João Canijo, was named by the Portuguese Academy of Cinema to Sophia Awards 2014 in five categories: Best Film, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Cinematography and Best Editing.
The 22nd edition of Curtas Vila do Conde took place between 5 and 13 july with nine days of intense activity, dozens of sessions and over two hundred films screened at the Festival venues, where screening rooms and hallways became full with filmmakers, actors, critics, programmers, film buffs and children.
