HAGANENET THE KINDERGARTEN TEACHER

Nira is a kindergarten teacher who is motivated by the daily presence of children, but whose life has stalled. In this context, she is surprised by Yoav, a five-year-old kid who, from one moment to the next, begins to say poetry. The phenomenon is overwhelming: without experience, barely able to read or write, Yoav can bring with him the depth of words and emotions. For Nira, herself an aspiring poet, the discovery is immeasurable. How to protect Yoav? How can she preserve what he suddenly begins to say? The obsession – once again a mark of Lapid's cinema – is tremendous and actually causes Nira to kidnap Yoav. She will not get much more than a few moments of freedom with him, but maybe that's enough to make her believe again in a world that no longer has poetry in it. (DR)
