PLÁTICA DE UNA FLORPLÁTICA DE UNA FLORHelena Estrela, 2020 Spain,
EXP, 00:02:44A conversation with a flower filmed, with no rehearsals, just from fragments. Fragments of images and sounds, born from inside and outside the frame, filmed as signs and suggestions, meant to lead or distract. Also words - “te arrodillaste en el lugar donde había quedado su cara y besaste la tierra y podrías haber abierto un agujero” – filmed to seduce us and point to “Pedro Páramo” (1955), the magic realist novel written in fragments by mexican author Juan Rulfo. “Plática de uma Flor” marks portuguese filmmaker Helena Estrela’s return to Curtas, where she previously presented “Bela Mandil” (out of competition) and was part of the Take One! competition jury in 2019.
