LA LEYENDA DEL TIEMPO THE LEGEND OF TIME
Isaki Lacuesta, 2006
Spain, FIC, 01:55:00
Isaki Lacuesta’s second feature film, “The Legend of Time” (2006), is a docudrama that combines two stories, which are told in parallel and come together through the music of Camarón de la Isla, a singer of gypsy origins considered the ultimate exponent of contemporary flamenco. Makiko is a young japanese girl obsessed with flamenco who abandons everything and heads to Spain, dreaming of becoming a singer. Isra is an andalusian child from San Fernando, Camarón’s hometown, who aspires to sing, but is unable to do so after his father’s death. Using the title of one of Camarón’s songs, which praises the ability to dream, “The Legend of Time” [“La Leyenda del Tiempo”] is a sensitive and human narrative, which follows attentively and carefully the evolution of its characters, as well as of their emotional and affective dynamics.
