ANI, 00:06:00João Fazenda, one of the most exciting Portuguese illustrators, combines the urge to eat with the hunger for movement that his drawings seem to have and, dialogue-free, presents us “Table”, his new animation. This is the second short the filmmaker shows at Vila do Conde, after “Unintended” in 2011. The plot takes place around a large table, with no beginning nor end, where people sit for what seems to be an enormous family meal. One after the other, we get to know and recognize the tics and the personality of the diners, witnessing encounters, reunions and blossoming relationships, celebrations, roles and dynamics that change in a fragmented existence. On this table, the appetite for the sublime chaos of life is quenched, with a nutritious film for the senses and for our confined imagination, a nostalgic and entertaining representation of what it is like to be together.
