Born in Buenos Aires in 1975, Lisandro Alonso studied in Universidad del Cine (FUC) and, along with Catriel Vildosola, co-directed his first short film “Dos en la Vereda” in 1995. After a period where he worked as a sound engineer assistance in several short films and some features and as an assistant director for Nicolas Sarquis in “Sobre la Tierra”, Lisandro came back to directing and made his first feature film “La Libertad” (screened in Cannes Festival section “Un Certain Regard”). In 2003 he created his production company 4L in Buenos Aires to produce his own films.


Since then he directed 3 other feature films – “Los Muertos”, 2004, “Fantasma”, 2006 and “Liverpool”, 2008 – With which he was present in Rotterdam, Viennale and Gijón. In Curtas Vila do Conde, in 2008, Lisandro Alonso was one of the special guests: he was jury for the international competition and the festival dedicated a session for his short film and his feature “La Libertad”.
