The film is based on the works (selected) of the french poet and writer Charles Baudelaire. A dandy, an aesthete, a decadent, a man who blaspheme against accepted religion and morality, who smoke opium and hashish, who dabble in Satanism and practice all manner of vice and corruption. The film has been shot on location in France, Germany, Iceland, The Netherlands, Portugal (Vila do Conde), Italy, United Kingdom and Denmark.
