Filmed on Madeira by João Reis Gomes (1869-1950) and restored by Cinemateca Portuguesa in 1987, this is one of the most unknown examples of the Portuguese silent movies, portraying a battle between Moors and Christians, made with one single shot, and a womanly figure all in black as an allegory of death. João Reis Gomes had written the historic novel A Filha de Tristão das Damas , from which he made a theatre play. This short film was made to be exhibited during the performance and commented by the actors.
