The triumph of the American burlesque style aroused several imitations throughout the world. In Portugal, Chaplin had, at least, two imitators. One of them was Cardo who made three films in 1916, in which he clumsily imitated the gestures and situations of Chaplin's films: 'Chegada de Cardo As Charlot a Lisboa', 'Cardo As Charlot no Politeama' and this 'Uma conquista de Cardo as Charlot no Jardim Zoológico de Lisboa'.
