Emídio Ribeiro Pratas was probably the first to create a company exclusively dedicated to the production of farces and comic movies, based on the American, French and Italian model. The result of his effort was this 'Pratas, o Conquistador', in which he makes a pastiche of Chaplin through the streets of Lisbon; however, another imitator, Cardo had been the first to put in practise this ideas, having filmed other pastiches of Chaplin, one of which is also included in this session.
