This is a celebratory film of water - but on this occasion, lengthily spun around a particular factual event - the recognition, for the first time, of synchronized Swimming as an Olympic Water-Sport. As a prelude to the extended human water-spetacular, the movement of water itself and then water as a medium for movement on a Darwinian scale of life, fish to frogs, not forgetting a few anomalies like the water-supporting frolics of a hippopotamus, is edited to music by Michael Nyman - not the sort of music the Swimming Team itself would have chosen to take to California, but sufficiently wet, windy and boisterous to suffer turbulent water, and brassy and martial enough to match all the automaton commands and responses.
