In Scorpio Rising, Kenneth Anger views clearly the cultural force of rock music and its materialisation of devilish energies, with a great attraction by sexual ambiguity and by sex-symbol mythology. The film is at the same time a necrological forecast of the American society and a story about the 'children of love' generation.Despite showing reverence to the destructive Fascist like aesthetics, what still prevails are the unstable undetermined associations, the re-interpretation of icons, cultural identity password and the exhibition of sexual ambivalence; a collage of music, commercial cinema, sex and kitsch which, at the time, made "Scorpio Rising" a cult-movie.
