Lisbon, the thirties. A famous actrice falls in love by a man who she often meets at the Lisbon Café. When she loses his trace, she hires a detective to track him down.The detective, a former fado singer, looks for clues all over the town. Always at night, always in Lisbon, he meets people as lonely as himself. A drug dealers' network feels threatened by the investigation and is afraid to be exposed by the detective. They start to kill witnesses. The detective, powerless, gets too late to the crime scene. He finds at last the mysterious man. Both are dead inside. Both are unable to love. The solitude and the fado always follow the detective. Until his death. Sad, lonely and final.
