'The film (...) was set up on the basis of documents from the times of the Lithuanian economic blockade, in 1990. The shootings took place in the building of gthe Soviet authority in Lithuania, as well as in the streets of Vilnius. The film has two 'heroes': the People and the Soviet high dignitary, i.e., the Lithuanian People and Vitautas Landsbergis, a most interesting character: a Music and Culture historian, a man with a solid education. Probably, he had the right profile to face the circumstances. With this film, we didn't have any political aim, only an artistic aim. It doesn't even show a work's day of Landsbergis. It is much more about the metamorphosis on the author's conscience and soul. We are standing before impressions of an historical personality and a subjective representation of an historical situation.' Alexander Sokurov
