In April 1993, when Chris Hani, leader of the South African Communist Party, was assassinated, it felt like South Africa was at the end of an era. A wave of fear swept through the white community - overnight, people packed up and left their country for good. The film is the tale of a white family as they leave South Africa on the day of Hani's funeral. A non-verbal exchange between the white son and a black child reveals the complexity of emotions surrounding the family's departure - fear, nostalgia and the pain of leaving.
