Robert Lax, born in 1915 in Olean, New York, was a companion of the beatnik poets Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg, the painter Ad Reinhardt and the religious philosopher Thomas Merlon. As one of the last great poets of Classical Modernism, he has lived withdrawn for 30 years on the Greek island of Patios. The present chamber film is the outcome of a long-standing friendship between Robert Lax and the filmmakers Nicolas Humbert and Werner Penzel.
