A man stumbles into a room and finds himself conspired against by the objects therein: jabbed in the eye by a chair leg, clothes ripped by malevolent nails, a bed transformed into sawdust. Brilliant trick photography is accompanied by Svankmajer's distinctive blend of sadism and black comedy.
