This slide show for three simultaneous screens was originally made for a lecture. It shows photographs of location shots and studio sets from several Billy Wilder films. Charles once said that he learned more about architecture from watching Billy on the set than almost anywhere else. This famous filmmaker was a close friend of Charles and Ray, and they were sometimes collaborators, as when Charles eames directed the second unit for the Billy Wilder film 'The Spirit of St. Louis'. Charles and Ray Eames designed a house for Billy Wilder that was, unfortunately, never built. On the other hand, the famous Soft Pad chair was originally designed for Wilder, and it's still in production today.
