The film is located in the White Sands Desert (New Mexico, USA) not far from Trinity Site, where the very first atomic bomb exploded in July 1945. The national park, also known as 'White Sands National Monument', possesses an ambivalent landscape, used both for picnics as well as for missile testing. The pure white desert is a natural exhibition space where every presence and every movement have the power of provoking different interpretations and new conceptions of the setting. Like a distant echo, we hear Marilyn Monroe's desperate monologue and accusation about man's violence from "The Misfits".
