Imitation of Life is one of the chapters in Mike Hoolboom’s feature film, Imitations of Life, presented in Vila do Conde during a Hoolboom’s retrospective in 2003. Imitations of Life uses found footage to set up an epic meta-scientific fiction in which both present and future are conceived as an infinite parade of images. Science fiction is seen as a kingdom of misplaced fears and dreams, a place for imagining a future that is already here.
