A journey to the singular universe of Caxinas, the famous fishermen's village in Vila do Conde, in a rare footage made in 1977. The film will be shown with live music by Paulo Praça and Eurico Amorim, and the writer valter hugo mãe will read original texts during the performance.The specificities of a place are impressive when it becomes totally different from what surrounds it, somehow becoming autonomous, by having different customs and a particular way of speaking. The specificities of the place Caxinas are impressive, it is stuck between two towns, it seems to have made itself out of sand, forever marked by some precariousness and abundant will to survive. When in 1977 José Manuel Sá filmed Caxinas he probably did not understand the treasure he would be keeping, for revealing itself a testament from these people who seldom leave a trace unless in the difficult blood that runs through their veins. These are precious images that after over thirty years remind us of those faces, the streets, their houses and the beach with a clarity that we would believe impossible to retrieve. Places like Caxinas often do not see their story told, and this film, short as it may be, gives all future generations the dignity of memory, the dignity of those who live from the hard trade of fishing, learning with violence what life and death are.
