The camera moves slowly through interior spaces that reveal a past. Does memory have a face? And does the face have a memory? The filmmaker Erin Vassilopoulos returns to Vila do Conde (she presented her short “Superior” during the last edition, in 2015) and, for the second time, surprises us with the way she leads the narrative and involves us in an environment of growing tension and amazement. Eva, the protagonist, recently underwent a partial face transplant and, as soon as she leaves the hospital, she realises she will never be the same. As she recovers, it becomes more and more urgent to find out who was her donor and she begins to feel increasingly close to her past, her friends and her feelings. In a game of close shots in intimate settings, the viewer is led to discover that boundary with her. (VV)
