A sarcastic take on the figure of Joan of Arc in an alternative, more obscene, cruel and warped version of events. Shot in 35mm film, it is a very interesting visual work based on the plasticity of the sets and characters, accompanied by a matching sound track. This is French director Bertrand Mandico’s third appearance at Vila do Conde, having already presented “Boro in the Box” in 2011 (which won the International Competition Grand Prize) and “Living Still Life” in 2012, continuing in this film to explore grotesque atmospheres and the surreal imaginary.
