Catarina Romano’s first film, based on five accounts, derives from a documentary on the theme of home and people rooted in one place. Starting with the sound, the animation film unfolds via the random thoughts expressed by those interviewed. The visual adaptation of concepts in the realm of the unconscious goes beyond a simple visual interpretation of events – exploring visual meaning, closed spaces, virtual spaces, and sensitive and ethereal spaces in the experiences of the inhabitants. With a particular quality which is not solely limited to what is tangible at the architectural level the film embraces concepts inherent to living together and the mind/body dichotomy. (SR)
