Making her first appearance in Vila do Conde with “Import”, the young Bosnian director Ena Sendijarevic has received praise on many sides for this short film which wavers between the dramatic and the comic in its portrayal of how a young family of Bosnian refugees adapts to life in a small Dutch city, following the individual ups and downs and everyday dramas of the various members of the family. The central theme of the film is human and social relationships, with montage playing an important role in creating meaning and links between the different individual stories. (PC)
