Like a poem this work evokes our imagination to magnify its effect. The film calls for a state of contemplation, an appreciation of ephemeral beauty, as in a lullaby, here in the form of hypnotic sounds and images. Most of the time we are not sure what we are seeing, as if in a dream, but we are enchanted by the ethereal composition that the film features. This is an abstract and near experimental work in which a group of children navigate a forest as if it were a playground, where strange landscapes become familiar and familiar images become strange. The intimate impressionist style overlies a fragile narrative, but the sensory immersion is sufficient for each to imagine and create our own story. (JA)
