David O’Reilly’s new project prolongs his taste for the absurd and for the intentionally barren use of 3D animation, in a permanent exercise of deconstruction that is antipodal to the dominant commercial aesthetics of this technology. O’Reilly’s experimental character has extended his ray of action far beyond animation short films, from works for exhibitions to videogames, as is the case of this "Everything", originally conceived for PlayStation 4. The purpose is simple: we can be everything and anything, from the tiniest microscopic being to an entire galaxy, we can assume the shape of a car, a house, a lion or an island, literally everything. O’Reilly’s film "RGB XYZ" won Vila do Conde’s award for best animation in 2008 and his films "Please Say Something" (2009) and "The External World" (2011) were included in the international competition of Curtas. Besides his work for games and animation short films, he is known for designing the videogame interfaces used in Spike Jonze’s film "Her". (MD)
