This is a man that doesn’t want to be there, in that place. He craved the limelight before but he no longer wants it. He craved the bohemian life associated with the existence of a film super-star but repetition has the ability to make everything boring and nothing seems to put the brakes on life’s whirlpool that insists in feeding itself from craving what is not there. This is Toby Dammit, the leading character in one of the most amazing short films in History of Cinema precisely named after him. It’s been directed by Federico Fellini in 1968 and is one of the three films in "Extraordinary Tales" – the other two are by Roger Vadim and Louis Malle – and the three are based on Edgar Allen Poe’s short-stories.
