In this film, I have found a Porto that is not mine, it has never been, I have never been from that location, it was a kind of forbidden territory, Aleixo, a drug neighbourhood, as they would call it at home, in Carvalhido, so far away and so close, in fact, that has also always been my Porto. "Bicicleta" by Luís Vieira Campos is a trip to the corners of a personal, group and collective identity. It is a dive into a Porto that has a much-coveted landscape, real, equally or even more real than the Porto "galleries" and the huge and lucrative business of the local renting and hotel business in a sort of gourmet-tavern version. A Porto of struggle and dignity, for whom the right to paid work with a slightly decent wage is so rare that it almost seems a miracle. Because in this city at height, rivers go by (gone in good time), but the repair of an elevator is not possible.... Fun and cruel, tragic and realistic, Vittorio de Sica would correctly understand this bicycle without thieves at the Porto of our time, with professional and amateur actors. We also knew how to, once again, welcome this work in Vila do Conde, as the team of Luís Vieira Campos was well received at Tower n. º 3, at Aleixo. (Ricardo Alexandre)
