Corrente" is a film that defines the artistic position of Rodrigo Areias, a director interested in filming the interior rurality that survives the decadence of the industrialized world. It is a poetic and identity film of an author interested in a landscape that Portuguese cinema ignores. The first short film by Rodrigo Areias, opportunely awarded in Vila do Conde, positions him as a producer who resists the centrifugal force of the whirlpool, standing on the margin, far from the center. We will always look at "Corrente" as a sign of the birth of a director and producer from the north, from the periphery, and who affirms a new centrality. (Tiago Alves)
