While the waves resemble the rhythm of life, a few cigarettes butts announce a disappearance, a few bubbles of air deform to defy reality, and in the eyes of a boy, a smoking walrus appears. An allegory of mourning, via the small strains of a modern family which, on a gray and windy day, goes to a northern beach guarded by the dunes, to return to the sea the ashes of a very peculiar grandfather. With extraordinary skill and irreproachable staging and character play - seven characters of distinct gradation enter the scene - the author signs her first film (in a professional context), culminating in a moment of catharsis and recovery of the sacred. Lucrèce Andreae, a young filmmaker whose career in animation quickly stood out, attended the Les Gobelins school and then Poudrière, and astonishes us by her maturity and by her skill in weaving together technique and narrative, leaving us eager for her upcoming films.
