After debuting in last year's edition with Severed Garden, Gonçalo Almeida returns to the Portuguese Competition at Curtas Vila do Conde with a work that once again shows outstanding work in photography and sound treatment. This promising Portuguese filmmaker is based in London, where he graduated from the prestigious London Film School. He’s already a regular presence in several international film festivals. "Thursday Night" is an intriguing and interesting fantastic thriller starring two dogs, the docile Bimbo and the mysterious Dakota, inspired by Brian Eno's album "Thursday Afternoon" (1985). For this reason, the film is built from a very careful sound and visual ambience that sets with particular sensibility its narrative nuances, namely by manipulating the speed of sound and image through slow motion.
