The initial inscription on the screen is provocative: "Life is no more than a bad cowboy story." It is still a film directed as an IDHEC student, but it’s already on its way to be a kind of punk thriller about the "Texano" murder. There are a lot of cultural references and, once again, the punk situationist attitude is felt, showing a series of characters who want to break established powers. Ossang sometimes simulates silent film, using several titles on screen and playing with the dark night. The port and the industrial area are the film’s favorite places: it is a kind of area (which George Lacombe called the miserable places of Paris, in 1928) where men become ghosts. However, here the area refers to a political order whose key idea is destruction. Therefore this is a film inhabited by the presence of death and its violence. A feminine voice comes from time to time, philosophizing about existence and Europe: private life is also a political issue. At the end, a scream is heard: "1, 3, 5, 7, 12 and back to chaos!" (DR)
