Four policemen, also actors, performing the exercise of authority. In a deserted, mountainous Los Angeles landscape, four men – who divide their time between "being a police officer" and "acting the police officer" – practice the commands as if following a script: "Lay down on the ground!", "Don't move!", "Keep walking!". They repeat them, change their tone of voice and rehearse violent moves. Out there, beyond the urban jungle and the Hollywood imagery (using fixed shots, monologues and no background music), the strangeness of their actions is highlighted, making them ridiculous at times. Swedish director Tova Mozard offers a profound reflection on the disciplinerazition of contemporary society (in real life and in film) and the internalisation of fiction within everyday situations, in this scathing simultaneous portrayal of two North American systems: policing and cinema.
