After featuring twice in the Curtas’ Experimental Competition in 2006 and 2007, Manuel Knapp returns with the first part of a new series of computer-animated films. The language he uses, based on visually very simple elements such as a white line on a black background multiplying in different textures and planes, is developed and refined to explore the infinite possibilities of the representation of space and the illusion of the camera moving through randomly projected, almost architectural, structures as if searching for another dimension or even a space-time fold. Knapp also develops an entirely digital sound composition that seeks out a possible connection with the images, which, nonetheless, and even from a technical perspective, remains separate. (MM)
