Two parallel lines are waiting for a train to pass, which will soon happen. The lines wave and multiply. The still image is run by a fluttering black and white. Through the window-screen, the landscape turns into fragment, abstraction, repetition and juxtaposition, disappearance. The camera embarks on a frantic, strobe journey, along which the landscape is constantly dissolving and resurfacing, as a visual and sonic phantasmagoria. The Austrian director Siegfried A. Fruhauf is the author of an extensive, powerful, and markedly experimental work, which Vila do Conde has been widely showing. His work, which explores film both as memory and subject, was featured in an exhibition held at Solar Cinematic Art Gallery, “Dissolution Film Portraits”, in collaboration with Dutch artist Manon de Boer, in 2005.
