In the time of love letters and analogue photographs, of the matinees at Londres and Quarteto (two of the first cinemas in Lisbon), Nena and Ricardo invented love. Twenty years later, in the time of selfies and digital cinema, Manel still does not know what love is. In a bittersweet tone, somewhere between João Nicolau and Jacinto Lucas Pires, "Amor, Avenidas Novas" is a musical comedy on the first love between youngsters entering adulthood, despondent and desperate, in an increasingly gentrified and precarious city that only wants to explore them. But suddenly, thanks to cinema and the music of Lena d’Água, love is still possible. (PC)
