By appropriating images and sounds from “Os Verdes Anos” (Paulo Rocha, 1963), “O Sangue” (Pedro Costa, 1989) and “Corte de Cabelo” (Joaquim Sapinho, 1995), Mariana Teixeira builds a new narrative that freely explores a broad idea of incommunicability, which cuts across the three films: between couples, families, neighbours or ethnic and social groups. The idea appears to be somewhat simple but the fusion the filmmaker proposes suggests meanings that emerge from the relationship between the images and sounds of the three films, which either strengthen or contradict the original signification. As a result, “- Tell - Me -” reinvents a unique way of looking at these films, doing justice to the song she chose for the soundtrack, “Esse olhar que era só teu” (That look that was yours alone), by Dead Combo.
