After “Cops Are Actors”, selected for Curtas in 2018, Tova Mozard brings to Vila do Conde a new work. In the synopsis, one can read that the film studies the phenomenon of the Psychics in the Hollywood area, where they function as a sort of accessible therapy. We also discover in the text provided by the artist that the voices of the psychics who we hear in the film were recorded by hidden microphones in real sessions, when a young woman subjected herself to the several readings. The doubts of those who see this without previous knowledge are therefore clarified, and justify the somewhat ironic game that the director plays by appearing in the arcade games and Karaoke rooms, suggesting that mediumship is part of the show business society. It is also understood why the nocturnal atmospheres and fixed planes that isolate the facades in the dark and highlight the store windows and illuminated neons predominate. Something fake and questionable stands out in these neons, reminding us of the excesses of advertising and gambling, but also of art, which embraced everything that is pop. If the questioning of truth is implicit in the mediation that films make of reality, it seems also evident that in the mediumistic world (such as in the mediatic one) there is no lie that does not contain some truth.
