Nicolau is a young man who, after finishing high school, seems to wander adrift an ocean of choices, while trying to realize what he wants to do next. This stalemate is not helped by the fact that Nicolau is a hopeless romantic, an inquisitive love addict lost in an emotional maze: he falls in love with every girl he meets, as well as with the possibilities he imagines for his future. With “Catavento”, João Rosas is back to the cinematic universe he has explored in his previous films, filled with melancholic adventures, about walks on the beach and summertime, in which everything feels suspended, about new relationships and possibilities, reminiscent of Éric Rohmer’s tales of love. João Rosas’ previous movie, “Maria do Mar” (2015), won Curtas’ Best Portuguese Short Film award, and following “Entrecampos” (2012), this is his third time at the festival. (JA)
