One of the aspects of artist Maria Mendes’s work is the construction of three-dimensional spaces from standardized elements, both organic and geometric, which are transfigured, and create what we can call hybrid landscapes. The images adapt perfectly to the rhythm of João Pais Filipe’s percussion, the persistent basis of a song that is both visceral and mechanical. In a moment, it sounds like it is coming from the beginning of time and, immediately after, like a futuristic piece, fusing organic and electronic elements, and creating soundscapes in which the percussions’ physical appeal slowly turns into an invitation to meditate.
