This first single from album “O País a Arder” leaves no room for doubt, even for the least attentive listener: libertarian and apocalyptic, a manifest for Portugal, and for the world, on the verge of 21st century’s third decade, emerges from chaos, calling upon punk, noise and free jazz. The visual translation is based, as it should, on a DIY aesthetic and on a zapping mode, courtesy of Francisco Laranjeira, who stitches together VHS tapes, super-8 films, bubblegum, ants, short animated sequences, and all sorts of visual noise. Francisco Laranjeira is responsible for the visual component of Sereias’ concerts, in which he manipulates images in real time, as seen in the live performance at Curtas 2019 Stereo programme. (MD)
