A filmmaker and an actress travel towards a remote location, in search of a particular house, and of inspiration for their next movie. The region is Douro, and the house belonged to Manoel de Oliveira, where he took refuge to create many of his works. Throughout the film, images of several Oliveira’s works, such as “Aniki Bobó” (1942), “Abraham’s Valley” (1993) or “Rite of Spring” (1963), are evoked, as well as images that Paulo Rocha filmed in the Douro house for “Oliveira Arquitecto” (1993). As in “Voyage to the Beginning of the World” (1997), in which Manoel de Oliveira invited Marcelo Mastroianni to a powerful reflection on childhood, memory and family, now Mário de Oliveira invites us to follow Manuel Mozos and Sónia Balacó on a voyage to the center of Manoel de Oliveira’s world, the Douro region, which he so obsessively filmed and thought, in a challenging reflection on cinema.
