A teenage boy walks down an ordinary street market, in the small town of Rio Claro, state of São Paulo – the filmmaker’s hometown, but it could be any other. He is there at the behest of his mother, buying something urgent for lunch, but ends up getting lost in the market while observing the reality surrounding him. Introspective, he notices visual and sound details, which allow him to imagine stories about ordinary people and everyday situations he comes across. Shown at Curtas in 2015, “Command Action” is a film by João Paulo Miranda Maria, in which creativity arises from the act of observing and the will to fictionalize the most ordinary context, populated with multiple narratives, including the protagonist’s, a mysterious teenager who wears a t-shirt with a Hollywood print and seems to desperately want to escape his reality.
