Watching Inês Costa’s “Touch”, one quickly realizes this is not an ordinary animation, either due to the subject it touches on (female orgasm), or to the technique used (embroidery). As in Michel Gondry’s early works, there is in this challenging animation an almost artisanal aspect, which subtly evokes a realm often almost exclusive to women, but that the filmmaker is able to subvert in her manifesto for the female body and pleasure, with no shame or moral judgement.
