We could be describing the recent events that took place in Washington last January, but this is just one of the episodes portrayed in “Buried News”, which uses images from the 20s of the last century. Bill Morrison returns to the archival footage he found in Dawson City to remember and contextualize some moments in the troubled history of the USA racial conflicts, episodes that remind how the manipulation of public opinion and its disastrous consequences are not a recent phenomenon. The stunning images of a peaceful demonstration and the contrast with the angry mob highlight the link to the past and the repeating of history.
