“Thunderland, as a matter of fact” is an audiovisual performance that combines soundscapes by musician Frédéric Boisclair with live 16mm projections by filmmaker Charles-André Coderre. The performance focuses on the hydroelectric power stations, aluminium smelters, and pulp and paper mills of Shawinigan (Quebec, Canada). Combining original footage with 16mm archival material drawn from corporate films produced in the region’s factories, “Thunderland, as a matter of fact” explores the sites, materials, and textures that shape a shared industrial imaginary.
