In 1983, following a letter sent by a group of high school students, Francis Ford Coppola adapted S.E. Hinton's novel "The Outsiders" (1967) to the big screen. The book (and the film) depicts the rivalries and confrontations between two rival gangs of teenagers in a 1960s Oklahoma town. Among other reasons, the film became legendary for its cast, which includes Diane Lane, Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze, Emilio Estevez, Matt Dillon, and Tom Cruise, all perfect unknowns at the time. Due to production constraints, some of the scenes from the book and that Coppola filmed were left out of the final edit. "The Outsiders - The Complete Novel" was the title chosen for a version released in 2005 on DVD. In addition to the inclusion of new scenes that are among the most beautiful moments in the film, the soundtrack was also changed and expanded. The third chapter of this revisiting of "The Outsiders" arrives in 2021, with the 4K restoration from the original negatives and the addition of some new scenes and music, allowing new generations to experience it in a movie theater as it was originally conceived.
