The [EXP] Experimental Competition is a particularly renowned space in the programming of Curtas, for the quality of the works presented and for the ability to map the creativity and the permanent challenge in seeking to reinvent new forms of cinematographic language. The works selected in this competition allow, naturally, to dismantle conventions and question current paradigms.

Autonomous in its aesthetic criteria, is the ideal space for the most transgressive and inventive cinema presented at the festival. There are 4 sessions that have already won over a dedicated audience, eager for new experiences and sensations, but also the attention of professionals, namely programmers and curators of international events, for their originality and constant challenge to the standards of cinematographic creation evidenced in the selection of films from each year.

The [EXP] Experimental Competition of Curtas is already an international reference, for the constant quality of the set of films selected every year, as well as for the balance between works by established authors and very young directors who take their first steps in this difficult territory and which will have , still, much to explore.
